About Us

Spence Children’s Cottage is a small, community-based centre managed by a committee consisting of parents and community members.

The Cottage was established in 1974 and has since this time provided a vital role in local children's lives.

The Cottage provides an extended family environment and our flexible approach allows all children, including siblings, to remain connected throughout the day.

We follow sustainable practices at the Cottage to ensure we are caring for the children and their future.

It takes a village to raise a child. Spence Cottage has been an important part of our village."

A small, family environment with consistent staffing was important to us. Leo has developed strong connections to both the Cottage and the educators and we really feel we are a team working together to give him the best start in life."

For us Spence Cottage has offered quality care and support through allergies and hearing loss. The team is small and committed to learning about our child and family. Our boy has formed very secure relationships with many of the carers and often tells us "I love my cottage.""

My daughter has been attending school since she was 10 months (now 3.5) and i will be sending my 2.5 month old there when i return to work in October. Spence is a fantastic cottage with low staff turnover and a very family friendly feel! Highly recommend!"

Such a lovely small centre, lots of interaction between the different age groups meant that siblings got to see and play with each other during the day. My kids have loved going here!"

We have always felt very supported by the Cottage and felt total confidence in leaving our son in their care. I really like the small size of the Cottage and the staff are very caring."
